Time is running out for this storied short line as the RS-3 successor to steam and Baldwins idles at the Suprior Yard office.

A few miles west of Superior, the Magma Arizona Railroad traverses some of the most spectacular Sonoran Desert scenery in Arizona.

Nice line-up of fallen flag boxcars. B&O round top, DL&W (Route of the Phoebe Snow), Great Northern, Burlington....just about as interesting as the steam engine pulling them.

About half way to Magma Junction, the #5 made a stop for water at what was known as Desert Tank. The temperature was still hovering around 115 degrees.

#5 has just left Superior on its way to Magma Junction and the connection with the Southern Pacific. At this point the fireman opened the blow down and moistened the desert.
